Why Boudoir?

To us, a boudoir session is so much more than photos. It’s about self-acceptance, empowerment, confidence, body positivity, and art.

It’s about getting glammed up and having the time of your life. The transformation that takes place between the time you walk into one of our luxurious studios and walk back out the door. A boudoir session is about feeling beautiful and that’s something we believe every person deserves. That’s why boudoir photography is our passion.

I know I speak for most of us at ATB when I say, I started shooting boudoir photography because I saw the beauty in everyone that came through my door. I believed I could translate the raw power I saw in each woman into art they would fall in love with. Women tell me they can’t look “that beautiful” because they were too tall, weigh too much, or have too many scars (literally and figuratively). 

I LOVE sharing the photos from their shoot with them and showing that they CAN, in fact, feel AND look beautiful. Seeing their reactions to their photos changed me. From that moment on, I knew I had stepped into my passion. It was now my job to be a mirror for my clients. Not the mirror that the world shows you that is filled with shame, but the one who sees past all of the lumps, bruises, and imperfections.

The one that reminds you of that sparkle.

The Transformation

The transformation that takes place in our studios is the best part of why boudoir photography is THE ultimate experience. When a woman arrives in a session, most of the time she comes in with a bundle of nerves. Shaky voices, sweaty hands, and blushed faces are things I see all the time.

REMINDER: It’s OKAY to feel this way. The strength that it takes for you to be aware of these feelings and do it anyway…is truly awe-inspiring to witness.

As soon as the session gets underway and your photographer takes you step-by-step through the poses, we all see that *magic* starts to shine through as you both get into a groove with each other. When I show the client the back of the camera after the first series, I usually hear “OH MY GOD, that’s me?! NO WAY that’s me!” 

And as we go into the next series after your outfit change, and then the next…the laughter and smiles start to come out, the feeling of relaxation and ease comes next, and then the sexiness and playfulness start to shine through. And I can tell that it’s all starting to click for them (pun definitely intended). By the time the session is through, we’re friends. We’ve swapped stories, laughed, and related to our shared experiences, and created something in our studio that will be something to always remember. 

Once their reveal comes around, jaws drop. They see themselves like they never have before. This is one of my favorite parts of boudoir photography. We get the chance to show you how we see you, how your spouse sees you, and be your mirror for your beauty.

A Little Piece of My Story

I didn’t quite grasp the gravity of what my career would mean for the women I would work with. I saw the need for women to receive the gift of confidence that a boudoir session can give. In 2010, I decided to spread the love and started traveling to new cities every weekend to photograph as many women as I could so they too could feel the power behind the boudoir. 

Eventually, with ever-increasing demand, I recruited my rockstar all-female team of photographers that are with me today and over a decade later we bring boudoir to 54 cities nationwide. I am PROUD to know these women that get to capture the essence of beauties like you every day. We eat, sleep, and breathe boudoir.

Why? Because we have been around long enough to know why a boudoir session can change the way you see yourself. It shapes you in ways that are hard to describe, but unreal to experience. For us, boudoir is a celebration of your body and who you truly are. Your true feminine essence that you get to take back during our session. I take pride in helping women celebrate their battles and victories.
