What Should You Wear to Your Boudoir Photoshoot?

The most important thing for you to keep in mind is to stay true to yourself when you’re picking your wardrobe options for your boudoir photoshoot. We want your boudoir photography to be a celebration of who YOU are, whatever that looks like!

From what to wear when you arrive at your photoshoot to choosing the perfect outfit to match your personality, we got you covered! Read on for more about what to wear to your boudoir photography shoot.

Show up to your boudoir photoshoot feeling as cozy as possible!

Arrive in What Feels Good

The day of your shoot, you’re going to want to get comfy!  Arrive at your shoot in the loosest clothing possible. Bras, tight pants, socks, etc. all leave those pesky little indentations in your skin- and those take awhile to leave, so it’s best to leave them at home.

You want to look and feel your best, so wear what makes you feel the most cozy!

What to Wear:

  • Loose dress or loose pants with a loose top and no bra
  • Soft, comfy shoes that won’t leave marks on your feet or ankles (think UGGs, slippers or flip flops)

Think about Your Personality

The most important thing when you choose an outfit for your boudoir photoshoot is that it reflects your personal style and personality. Your wardrobe should make you feel confident and comfortable in your own gorgeous skin!

Are you fancy or more casual? Frilly and feminine or raw and edgy? There is no right or wrong here and we want you to see yourself in your stunning final images. If you need suggestions, we’ve created a Boudoir Style Quiz to help you visualize the perfect outfits for you!

Photographer Kim suggests getting inspiration online: “Find the best outfits by looking at your style and searching in Google or Pinterest the colors that you love plus your body type. An example: “dark green lingerie curvy.” I always find amazing inspo on Pinterest!”

If you’re not sure what kind of look you’d like to go with, it’s always helpful to take some time before the shoot to think about what kind of styles feel good on you. Consider what colors boost your mood and which fabrics drape nicely on your body shape. Focus on pieces that highlight your favorite features. Your photoshoot is a celebration of you and everything that makes you the fierce, strong woman that you are!

Try Something New

If you’re feeling adventurous, don’t be afraid to try something new! Boudoir photoshoots are an excellent time to try out new looks you might not normally wear in your everyday life. Consider playing around with silhouettes and fabrics like lace bodysuits, teddies, high-waisted panties with attached garters – get creative! You may find yourself surprised by how good certain pieces make you look and feel!

Photographer Kaitlin recommends just going for it. “My advice would be: DO IT! By the end of the session most women feel completely confident, sexy, and WANT to branch out of their comfort zone because they have conquered their fears! I find that they’re ready for that one outfit they weren’t thinking would look good, thought was “too sexy”, or just didn’t feel courageous enough in thought to be able to pull it off. It’s always better to bring it and not use it, than to be totally feeling yourself in the moment and wishing you had it.”

Kim agrees, saying not to be scared if you’re interested in something new. “If you like BDSM then don’t be scared to get wild and express yourself!”

Confidence is Key

You are a rockstar! Your stunning final images from your boudoir photoshoot are a celebration of you and all of your powerful, sexy, feminine beauty. Whether you wear something classic or you experiment with something new, wearing what makes you feel great will ensure gorgeous results. Remember: confidence is key when it comes to boudoir photography, so just own it!

Keep these tips in mind to make finding the perfect outfit for your boudoir photoshoot easy as pie. You got this, Babe!
